About
Hi! We just thought we should tell you a little about what we are doing over the next year.
When we first arrive in Nepal we are going to be staying together with a host family in the capital Kathmandu. Moo is going to spend two months working in a Hospital and rehabilitation centre for disabled children and in a orthopaedic centre as a Physiotherapist which will be valuble work experiance. Sophie will spend one month teaching English to children between the ages of 7 and 15 at a school in Kathmandu then a month taking part in a care and comunity project which will involve working in a rehabilitation centre for young children with HIV.
Before returning home we are planning on visiting the Royal Chitwan National Park. Doing the famous elephant back safari before helping to give the elepahants their bath! Our next stop will be Pokhara deep in the Himalayan mountains from here we will be able to take part in many activities including trekking to tibetan settlements, paragliding above the mountains, white water rafting and mountain biking.
We will then return home for a very short time before flying out to Peru. On arriving we will take a connecting flight to the small town of Puerto Maldonado on the edge of the Amazon rain forest, from here there is a two hour boat ride to reach our home for the next month, the Taricaya Lodge. Our role here will be helping to monitor the jungle ecosystem from the canopy walkways 42 metres above the ground and we will also be involved in the wild animal release programme.
After a month in the rainforest we will head over to Cuzco, here we shall meet Lydia. We intend to trek to Machu Picchu on one of the less used inca trails. From here our plans become a little vague! We have 5 weeks to make it to Buenos Aires for our flight home and before then hope to visit Arequipa, Lake Titicaca, the salt flats of either Bolivia or Chile, the Iquazu falls on the Argentia-Brazil border and whatever else comes up along the way!
If we do make it to Buneos Aires on time for our flight we shall be home by the end of June ready to prepare for university in September. Sophie is going to Oxford Brookes to Study Human Biology and Moo to Queen Margret Edinburgh to study Physiotherapy.
This site is intended for you to keep track of where abouts we are. For us to keep you all updated on what we have been up to and to hopefully show you a few of our photos (although this may be a little tricky on slow third world computers).
Thanks for reading, love Sophie and Moo x
